Gloria Yu is a fashion designer and artist who primarily focuses on millinery design, as well as new interpretations of the crown as a contemporary statement. Yu’s crown designs are effectively deconstructions of the crown as a historical symbol of power. After completing her studies at Parsons School of Design, she collaborated with Lane Crawford to launch her first collection. Currently, her work can be found in stores such as Lane Crawford and Net-A-Porter.com, and it has been featured in WWD, Nylon, V, and Marie Claire.
In the 14th Factory, Gloria designed and produced a special subset of crowns in natural found materials, as part of Simon Birch’s installation Hypercaine.
